Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-30
This policy covers both the CaliTimer iOS app and the calitimer.app website. The app is fully on-device; the website collects only your email address if you subscribe to our update list.
The short version
- The iOS app does not transmit anything off your device. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no third-party SDKs.
- Camera frames are analysed on-device by Apple's Vision framework. The analysis returns pose landmarks, not images.
- Recorded videos stay on your device and only enter your Photos library if you tap Save Set.
- Hold logs, personal bests, and settings live in the app's local storage on your device.
- The app can pre-fill a support email with technical details about a session, but it never sends it — you do, from your own mail app, and anything attached is attached by you.
- The website collects only your email address, and only if you submit the subscribe form. No cookies, no analytics, no tracking scripts.
The CaliTimer iOS app
Camera (analysis). CaliTimer uses your camera to detect when you're in a static skill position and to time the hold. The live feed is analysed on-device by Apple's Vision framework, which returns pose landmarks — numerical joint positions, not images. The raw camera frames used for analysis are held in memory and not stored.
Camera (recording). Separately, while a set is in progress CaliTimer records the camera feed to a temporary video file on your device so you can review or save the hold. When the set ends, you choose whether to save the file to your Photos library or discard it (in which case it's deleted from temporary storage). Nothing is transmitted off-device.
Photo library — picking a video (Upload Mode). When you use Upload Mode to analyse an existing video, you pick a single file through Apple's system photo picker. The picker runs outside CaliTimer, so the app only receives the one video you choose — it cannot browse or scan the rest of your library. The picked video is analysed on-device and not transmitted.
Photo library — saving a recorded set. When you tap Save Set at the end of a session, CaliTimer writes the recorded video to your Photos library so it lives alongside your other videos. The app can only add to your library — it cannot read or modify existing photos or videos. You can delete saved sets any time from the Photos app.
The following are stored on your device, in the app's private storage. None of it is uploaded anywhere:
- Hold logs (skill, duration, start/end time, optional reference to a saved video file).
- Personal bests.
- Goals and app settings.
If you have iCloud Backup turned on for your device, iOS may include this app's local storage in your encrypted device backup. That data is governed by Apple's iCloud backup terms, not by us.
What the app doesn't do:
- No user accounts.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No ads.
- No selling, sharing, or renting your data — because we don't have your data to begin with.
- No third-party analytics, crash reporting, or marketing SDKs.
Permissions you can revoke any time. Anything CaliTimer accesses can be turned off in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security. Revoking camera or photo library access will stop the affected features from working, but won't affect anything else.
Deleting your data. Uninstall CaliTimer, or go to iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → CaliTimer → Delete App. Either wipes all local data.
Children. CaliTimer is suitable for users of all ages and is rated 4+. The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all. The one thing that reaches us is an email you choose to send us yourself — see If you contact support below. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to send it for you, especially if you want to attach a photo or video.

What the app fills in. From the session review screen, CaliTimer can open a pre-filled email to us. It fills in your app version, device model, iOS version, and technical details about that session's detection — frame rate, how many body points were visible, how many holds were recorded or discarded, and similar measurements. It contains no name, no account, no location, and no advertising or device identifiers. The app only composes the message: nothing is sent until you tap send in your own mail app, and you can edit or delete any of it first.
Anything you attach, you attach yourself. You may choose to include a screenshot, screen recording, or video. That is entirely optional, and the app never attaches anything for you — you add it in your mail app, from your own Photos library. Please make sure other people aren't identifiable in anything you attach.
What we do with it. We use what you send only to answer you and to improve detection. We keep support emails and their attachments for no longer than 12 months after your issue is resolved, and we never publish or share them without asking you first. To have an email and its attachments deleted sooner, write to support@calitimer.app.
